![]() ![]() This is an APS-C size sensor (22.2 x 14.8mm) that has the same 3:2 ratio as film cameras, enabling an effective angle of view that is 1.6x the normal EF Lens focal length. The XS features the same 10-megapixel large-area CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) sensor that was used on the XTi. ![]() The exterior consists of a durable ABS and Polycarbonate resin and is offered in silver or black finishes. The camera body is constructed of a rugged yet lightweight combination of stainless steel and polycarbonate reinforced with glass fiber. Unfortunately, the hand grip on the right side does not feature a nice rubberized surface like that found on past models. ![]() The amount of controls or buttons on the camera have been reduced when compared to the Xti, showing Canon's continued commitment in making the Rebel a simple to use Digital SLR. While it is compact for a dSLR model, the camera fits nicely in your hands. The body Weighs in at a mere 15.9 oz./ 450g, which is almost 1 ounce lighter than the XSi and over 2 ounces lighter than the Xti. While the Rebel XS has been dubbed the replacement of the XTi from 2006, it more resembles the newer XSi, just a bit smaller. ![]()
